So I’ve decided to do something I have never done before…I’m going to mediate for 31 days straight.  It’s been a while since I’ve had a consistent meditation practice and I’ve been yearning for it lately. It all kicks off March 1st and i’ve invited anyone who is also looking to begin a Mediation practice,  reconnect with a Mediation practice or even to take your current Mediation practice to the next level.

To know why I created this group initiative, read on:

A few weeks ago, I broke down crying in the arms of my partner. I felt like I was dying on the inside and had forgotten who I was (yes very dramatic, but the pain and void I felt on the inside felt so real). I said to him “I don’t recognise myself anymore, i’m so over feeling this way!”

To be honest, after doing many years of ‘inner work’ (seminars, books, retreats, online programs and 1:1 mentoring) to live in the present moment and to follow my heart, I felt lately that I had lost touch with ‘me’. This is very common and easy to slip into with all of us, and especially for us mama’s (& papa’s) out there.  I love being a mum, but I also miss ‘me’…the part of me that loves to write, blog, mentor and connect with people. I missed learning new things and felt like I wasn’t growing. I was yearning for more meaning, creativity, connection and fulfillment in my life.

So I decided to do things differently.  I started taking action and started to make time (often at 9pm at night) for what I love: writing on my blog and connecting with my community. I started to spend more time outside in mother nature and I stopped looking for fulfillment in all the wrong places: food, social media and the past (reflecting on what I “should” have done with all my time pre-baby!).

I also said yes to a month long squat challenge. Yep. Random I know and something I usually wouldn’t do but my friend who had just become a PT had created an online Facebook group challenge. I was loving it. I was loving that I was breaking the mold of who I thought I was (I wouldn’t usually say yes or even do those sorts of group challenges) and it got me thinking…how can I give back? What could I create to help people break the mold of who they know themselves to be and invite more meaning, peace, fulfillment, contribution, inspiration and joy into their lives.

Hello, Mindfulness in March Initiative.

To be honest, I also created this initiative because I personally need it and I know that others were probably yearning for similar things. I know when I am mindful and present, I enjoy life so much more. I am a much better mama to Ava and a much nicer partner to Ian and overall just a nicer person to be around. I also take a lot more action. I honour my intuition, I consciously create my days and I take much better care of myself.

I also wholeheartedly believe our outer world is a reflection of our inner world. Our thoughts and beliefs shape how we perceive others and the world. And on a grander scale, the current state of humanity and the world is a general reflection of our collective consciousness. Reflecting both beauty, freedom, joy, community and LOVE, and also greed, cruelty, aggression and FEAR.

If we want to live our highest potential in our lives and for humanity and our planet to thrive for current and future generations, we must first find stillness within our minds and then act and live accordingly: from a space of love, peace and courage.

I know how easy it is to get caught up in the hustle & bustle of life and forget the bigger picture of why we are each here. My intention for this group is to create a space where we can each practice dedicating time each day to living with more presence and awareness so that we can all go about our daily lives with more fulfillment, connection, gratitude and have the courage to simply be ourselves, to pursue all avenues that light us up and to be around those who make us grateful to be alive.

I also purposefully created the month long initiative to begin Mediating only 5 minutes a day which eventually builds up to 20 minutes. I know for me and for clients I have worked with, its all about the small daily changes we make that create the larger shifts in our lives.

This initiative is for everyone. A perfect place and way to begin Meditating and seeing how it benefits you for those novices out there.  It is also great for a seasoned Meditator, perhaps use these 31 Days to stretch yourself to Meditating twice a day or even adding on 5 Minutes a day progressively.
